Yahoo Directory Submission – Update #1
Here is my first update to the post, I Just Paid for Submission to the Yahoo Directory.
I just got notified by Yahoo that my directory submission of the site, Jillian Entertainment CD and DVD Wholesale Directory was accepted. I still can't find my site in the directory. The email I got from Yahoo stated that it could be another 2 - 4 days before my site actually appears in the directory.
This brings me to my first complaint. I submitted my site on April 15th, 2008. My account shows my submission is up for renewal on April 15th, 2009. If my site isn't actually going to be included in the directory until April 26th - April 27th, then why isn't my renewal date based on when my site is actually included? I hate paying for things I don't actually receive.
I think everyone agrees you can't expect to get much, if any, traffic directly from the directory. My purpose for submission has to do exclusively with improving search rankings.
I use Google Analytics to monitor this site. The site gets natural traffic from over 1,026 keywords and phrases. Over half of those keywords result in less than 10 clicks a month. I didn't want to waste time with a huge list of keywords. So, for the purpose of my test, I decided to monitor the top 22 keyword phrases in terms of traffic.
Here is a list of my rankings before the submission. I ran this report with Web CEO Ranking Checker. (Affiliate Link - Read this before you consider buying it.)
I'll be running the report each week to see if there is any improvement in my rankings. For the next month, I will not be doing any SEO work on this site. I want my results to be based exclusively on my inclusion to the Yahoo Directory.
